Your Breast Reduction

Breast reduction surgery generally takes 2-4 hours to complete and is done under general anaesthesia. The most common breast reduction procedure involves an "anchor" incision that loops around the dark ring around your nipple (areola), down the front face and horizontally across the breast crease. Alternatively, there are other methods available based upon the patient's body shape and personal preferences.

Once the incision has been made, we will remove excess skin, fat, and glandular tissue. The nipple will be reshaped and elevated, and then the incision will be stitched and covered with gauze and medical tape.

Results and Aftercare for Breast Reduction Surgery

Recovery from breast reduction surgery generally takes between 1-2 weeks, during which time you will wear a special surgical bra to provide support to your breasts. Avoid heavy lifting or strenuous activity for at least a month after the surgery. In some instances, a surgical drain may be needed to remove excess fluids. If excessive aching or swelling occurs, pain medication may be prescribed.

As with all surgeries, breast reduction leads to some scarring, and possible complications include infections, bleeding, breast asymmetry, or even permanent loss of sensation.
